It has been well over a year since we last took a look at some of the latest CSS3 buttons techniques. And what a difference a year makes.

No longer satisfied with just using the basic CSS3 properties (border-radius, box-shadow…), many developers have progressed to using @font-face icons, animation and 3D effects. All with only CSS.

All of the minimal themes we have for you below are free and will work perfectly well straight-out-of-the-box (albeit with a few option panel tweaks), also the vast majority of them being responsive. But, putting the minimal styling aside, the real beauty of these themes, for designers and developers anyway, is that they are a fantastic starting point for further development and giving you the chance to view and learn first-hand professional and organised coding practices.

Its that time of the year again were we take a look at and highlight the most useful recently released jQuery plugins.
As expected from the jQuery community, the selection we have for you is highly impressive. They never, ever let you down.

For graphic designers, the general goal is to create something that people notice in a good way. These designers aspire that their work is recognized as “good,” “great” or even “spectacular”. But in order to create work that is worthy of those accolades, there are a lot of things that must be put in. Blood, sweat, and tears are usually the first three ingredients, possibly a dash of inspiration from a Design Annual, and after that a trip to their favorite candy store, the Internet, for some sweet fonts, delectable brushes, or rich patterns.

The pros for using @fontface for icons far outweigh the cons. First of all, there are the obvious benefits of being infinitely scalable and being able to style them dynamically using any CSS property (color, gradients, shadow…). Secondly, its much easier to manage one single font file as opposed to juggling lots of individual images or having to create sprites. Thirdly, a single font file will only need a single HTTP Request for all the icons you use. And finally, just to round things off and finally convince you of the benefits of using @fontface icons, they look amazing.
